Sample Sectioning and Polishing

The surface of a component only tells part of the story. The strength of welds, solder, brazing and other joining methods often needs to be viewed from the inside. Our sampling and sectioning equipment is able bring your parts to a high shine for quality etching. Sectioning can be used to measure depths of penetration, reveal cracks, inclusions and other defects. Coupled with an etching process grain structure and other metallurgical properties can be teased from the material. Our lab is capable of 400x stereoscopic measurements and sample sizes up to 3" in diameter in Steels and Nickel super alloys.
